Hong Kong Nepalese Tennis Society

We are excited to announce that we have organized 2^nd Annual Friendship Tennis Championship 2011 in Hong Kong. The opening match was held at King’s Park Tennis Court on 6 Feb 2011, and was inaugurated by our society patron Mr. Y.B. Rai. Total 24 players participated. Before kick off match our society Chairman Mr. Magendra Rai explained the game’s rules and regulations. There was Men’s singles and doubles games and divided into division A & B. In division A singles defending champion Bikash Gurung defeated Giriraj Gurung by 6-2, 6-1 on straight set. Similarly Ram Chandra Limbu defeated Lal Gurung by 6-0, 6-2, Uday Rai defeated Guman Shing Gurung by 6-2, 7-6, Indra Hang Rai defeated Khim Purja by 7-5, 7-5, Binod Gurung defeated Nabin Dewan by 6-1, 6-0, Magendra Rai defeated Yubaraj Gurung by 6-0, 6-3, Damber Pun Adam defeated Kishor Gurung by 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Kisan Thapa defeated Arjun Gurung by 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Men’s singles division B held at Olympic City 1 Water Fall Club Tennis Court at the same opening day, Rabindra Rai defeated Dawa Rai by 6-2, 6-0, Madhu Kumar Rai defeated Chandra Gurung by 6-2, 6-0, Bijaya Rai defeated Dilip Rai by 6-1, 6-3 and Man Gurung defeated Bikash Gurung by 6-1, 0-6, 6-4.

On coming Saturday evening 8:00pm division A singles quarter final will be held at King’s Park Tennis Court and the following schedule has been arranged, Binod Gurung vs Adam Pun, Magendra Rai vs Kisan Thapa and on Sunday 12:00pm at the same court Indra Hang Rai vs Uday Rai, Bikash Gurung vs Ram Chandra Limbu will play. In Division A doubles Kishor Gurung / Arjun Gurung vs Uday Rai / Khim Purja, Bikash Gurung / Guman Shing Gurung vs Nabin Dewan / Giriraj Gurung, Indra Hang Rai / Ram Chandra Limbu vs Magendra Rai / Yubaraj Gurung and Damber Pun Adam / Lal Gurung vs Binod Gurung / Kisan Thapa also scheduled for that day.

Here are some highlights from King’s Park

On Sunday, 14 of Nov 2010, the 2nd league championships tournament was completed successfully. The tournament was divided into division A & B. Matches took in various places. The final matches was played at Tung Chau Park Tennis courts at Sham Shui Po.

In the final game of Division A, GURUNG Bikash took the Winner Title by defeating RAI Magendra by 6-4, 6-3.
RAI Santosh took the Winner Title by defeated Guman Singh Gurung by 6-3, 6-3 of division B.
In the Men’s Doubles the pairs of RAI Indra Hang and RAI Bijay defeated the pair of GURUNG Arjun and PURJA Khim.

Mr. Y.B. Rai the Patron Advisor of HKNTS distributed trophies, medals and prizes to Winners & Runner Up players. Magendra Rai the Chairman of HKNTS congratulated to Winners & Runner Ups and thanked all participated players.

The first Division League Tournament started from April 2010.
The Division League Tournament was categorized into A & B.

General Meeting was held in Olympic at Action Waterfall at 10:30am.
In the meeting the following members was present;

League Tournament

During the meeting, Mr. Chairman raised a discussion about our League Tournament which will be held 4 times in a year (tri monthly). He further discussed about the game settings and the division. Mr. Chairman has made a sample showing how a player is arranged for the game play. Mr. Chairman has arranged a game setting in such a way that, each player has to compete with all the opponent. He also mentioned about the Scoring system that A player who wins a game, gets 1 point and the loser will get no point.
This League Tournament has been divided into 2 Divisions, Division A & Division B. Senior Level Players (Pro) will be played in Division A & the Junior Level Players (Basic) will be played in Division B.
The winner & runner up will get trophy and certificate. The final date for the submission of Entry form will be 31 March 2010 .
All the members are welcomed to participate in the League Tournament. A $100.00 will be charged as an Entry Fee to the participants and further $100.00 will be charged for 1 year membership fee & member card.

New comers

For the new comers, out senior members will provide a basic training to them. Mr. Magendra, Mr. Nabin, Mr. Khim & Mr. Indra Hang are the senior players who will be providing training to basic players. The training will be arranged once in a month on Sunday, but the date will be fixed by the trainers due their availability.
